Hello ,  im planning on running a falklands war game in the future at the Badlands site (which is perfect terrian for it)

see site on the link below

http://www.gunmanfor...showtopic=10109

It will be based on the battle for mount tumbledown, and will simulate 8 hours in a battle.

At Milsim standard

Argentine commandos (US 1980s kit )   M16 , fn fal,  gpmg, brownings .30 .50

Scots Guards   (Uk dppm 1980s kit)    SLr, fal , smg (sten at a push)  gpmg Browning .30 .50

a Saturday night "Operation"   8 Full hours , no breaks

(basically a full days airsoft)

game on 1800  Sat until 0200 Sunday , camping on site after the event for those not wanting to drive home

150 acres quarry site

The main worry i have , is are there any players for Argentine commandos.

if you think this would float your boat , please post below.

state which side you would play.

this is an interest thread to judge on the vaiability of the battle,  so if you want it , POST YOUR INTEREST   ;)

sounds great to me!

be a good battle as the Argentine defenders at tumbledown were some of the well trained troops of the army, not the conscripts.

if you've got US nam kit its pretty much the same look for Argentinian marines, add a german army 80s grey parka if you get cold and you're sorted!

I'd be interested and happy to play argie. I think putting together look a like kit for the argie commando shouldn't be too hard since they used quite a mixture. I take you're fine with OD uniforms? I am lacking a suitable weapon but I'm sure I can find one.

Argentine marine look a lot like US soldiers of the late 70s/early 80s.  OD unifomrs, m1 helmets and webbing that looks like m56 (but was made actually of green leather).  M16s or FAL or sterling (use a sten)

A quick google suggested they also had PAM 1 & 2 smgs in the Falklands, which is a copy of the M3 grease gun. Not sure what units would have had them, though.

Sounds interesting I would be quite happy to go as Argentine not sure my fitness levels are up to attacking up hill!

Corporal Hancock: Sir.
[Offers mug of tea]

Major General Urquhart: Hancock. I've got lunatics laughing at me from the woods. My original plan has been scuppered now that the jeeps haven't arrived. My communications are completely broken down. Do you really believe any of that can be helped by a cup of tea?

Corporal Hancock: Couldn't hurt, sir.

it will be a operation, argentines can send out patrols , with a primary objective of holding a hill.

likewise the british can recce patrol before the main objective of taking the hill,   each side will have equal chance to win this.

it will not be a fixed outcome

For reference, I appear to have found the motherlode: Nearly 500 photos of Argentinian troops during the invasion:

Tell you what, they might not have been as bad a soldier as has been made out since, but they were crap at doing the YMCA dance:

The commandos also used ERDL based camo uniforms and ALICE based webbing so there are a few options kit wise. They previously used duck hunter as well but I don't know if that was used in 82.

Don't forget the cold! The only thing my dad and god-father ever really told be about the Falklands was that it was "Ball shittingly cold".

Would absolutely love to be a part of this - might be a bit far for me to travel though for 6 hours on the ground.
