A friend has a couple of bits of copy strichtarn that were produced for the SADF.

really? I've never seen this and I've done quite a bit of 70's 80's SADF research

I've seen it, i've also seen locally made strictarn for african rebel units including chest rigs in 'horizontal' strictarn.

SADF forces quite frequently came closer than was reported at the time to NVA units.   I read a blog from a guy at the time who was saying they almost pitied the NVA conscripts they came up against as they were really badly trained, badly equipped and seemed unhealthy.

I dont think any 'shooting' occured, deifnitely not offically but they were frequnetly looking down rifle scopes at each other.

Any word on whether this is planning on going ahead?

I've never done this sort of thing before but it sounds like fun! I'd be up for it if it was at Eversly. I have an M4 but I can cover the RIS or something with tape over the hand guards... And I'm to fat/old/crazy to be in the regular army so it'd be really realistic for me to be a wild goose!

Perhaps we should raise the age limit for the Wild Geese to over 50? I'd still be OK though :)

Cheers

I don't know if Gadge is still planning on doing this but if enough people are up for it I'll happily help out on the organisation front and helping to plan it to ensure it goes ahead!

I don't mind helping in any way I can. I'm only about an hour away from Eversly.

I don't mind pitching in as I said mate. I could probably help with the story line, got top marks GCSE English and A level English a couple of years ago... Writing used to be a hobby.

Plus I can lift and shift.

Story won't be the trouble chap, it will be people on the day prepared to co-ordinate stuff.   I've got the story all planned - I write about the cold war era all the time.

It all rests on being able to run it on a summer saturday, that doesnt muck up the regular gunman schedule and as you can appreciate Josh has loads on.

I think the interest is there, the plot is there, the kit is there, it's just fitting it in without losing a regular event! :(

If you had the 23-25 Cold war (Filmsim Events) at eversley then you could have the wild geese game as an extra on the bank holiday monday
