TOWN NEWS FROM THE MAYORS OFFICE

ELECTIONS FOR SHERIFF
There will be an election held for district sheriff next time, as many of you are aware. There are two candidates names already put forward. Anyone who wishes to also put their name forward will need to inform the office of the mayor (ie me) before the end of summer (ie before the next event) to have you name included on the ballot. Any resident of Shingle Springs or the surrounding district is eligible to stand.

VOTING ROLLS
To compliment the emergence of democracy the Town will be compiling a register of voters. Anyone who wishes to vote in the election must register as an elector of the district, which show you are a resident and productive member of the community.

TOWN CLERK
The position of town clerk will be filled to enable the smooth running of government administration. The position is by appointment and will be made by the mayors office. Applications for the position should be submitted to the Mayors Office.

DEATH NOTICES

Next event (just after the briefing) will be the funerals of the two characters who died last time.

So their employers should 'liase' with the Undertaker to pay for the burial/headstone, Otherwise the town will be paying for a "government burial".

Remember, not everyone in town can sign with an X

It will take less bullets to kill him now than if we wait for him to turn into a zombie.

The elderly. They seem nice enough, but can they really be trusted ?

Henry Chellingworth will be overseeing the validity and fairness of the vote.  Of course, Marshals Comber and Lawson will be assisting with that to ensure no-one is playing games.

Marshal Comber is standing, so I am pretty sure he will not be 'overseeing any validities'

In fact he will have to turn his badge in to run.

Really?  I wasn't aware of that.  There were several cases in history where Marshalls also acted as Sheriffs.  No way will I resign from my federal position to take my chances in a local election.  I'd be left out in the cold should I not win.

well at the very least will will have to take a 'leave of absense' from your position over the election (although everyone I looked up served as either one or the other over time).
